Practice Philosophy
Our philosophy is that the care we provide should meet your unique, individual needs.
With a long and established career, having worked in both rural environments and busy, cosmopolitan cities, I have a wealth of experience seeing and treating people from diverse backgrounds, cultures and perspectives.
With a focus on clinical excellence, and bringing my extensive experience, I will provide you with exceptional care, whatever your hand and wrist problem may be.
I understand how important receiving timely, personalised care is for you, and promise to tailor your treatment to your personal story, paying close attention to your specific history, lifestyle and goals.
My team is committed to providing you with an outstanding experience and to making it as easy as possible for you to access the right treatment for your condition. With prompt and attentive communication, we will guide you through your entire journey, from initial enquiry, through to consultation, treatment and aftercare.
We use a secure software platform Carebit to keep all your records securely in one place, so that you can see your results, reports and clinical letters as soon as they are available.
Enquiries
We appreciate that choosing the right provider is a big decision. You may have many questions, perhaps about the logistics of private healthcare, your particular condition, or maybe about the available treatments.
Our website is designed to give you a helpful look into our practice and the patient experience. Please feel free to contact us if you need more clarity or wish to discuss how we can help. We make it a priority to get back to you as quickly as possible.
Referrals
I am happy to see patients without a formal referral, provided the condition is within my scope of practice.
Please contact my secretary for any clarification for your specific circumstances or to check that I can manage your condition.
Please note: Some private medical insurers require a referral before they will authorise cover. I recommend checking your policy details and obtaining an authorisation code before booking.
How to Book
There are several ways to book an appointment with me. Please choose the option that best suits your needs.
Recommended
Via my Secretary
The most efficient option.
We can clarify details and ensure the correct appointment type is scheduled.
Contact via form, email, WhatsApp or telephone.
Follow-up Appointments: Please note that all follow-up clinic appointments must be booked via my secretary.
What happens next?
Once booked, you will receive a confirmation email and a “CMA” letter. Please read this carefully as it contains important information we are required to give you before your appointment.
You will also be granted access to your Patient Portal to view results, share photographs, and complete digital consent forms or questionnaires to help us provide the best possible care.
Your Consultation
Please arrive at least 15 minutes early for your first appointment.
The hospital may ask you to complete a registration form or provide additional details upon check-in.
Please note: Whilst I strive to remain on schedule, the nature of a medical clinic means that some consultations may take longer than expected.
If you have been waiting longer than expected, please let a nurse know so they can provide an updated waiting time.
During the consultation, we will have the opportunity to discuss your condition and concerns in detail. Following a clinical examination, we will discuss your diagnosis and all available treatment options.
Sometimes there is a lot of information, and it can be overwhelming. If you have a complex condition, I encourage you to bring someone with you for support.
There is never any pressure to choose a treatment immediately; if you need time to consider your options, we can easily arrange a second consultation to answer further questions.
I will provide you with the very best advice possible, so you feel completely confident that you can make the decision that is right for you.
Further Investigations
Sometimes, further investigations are required to help plan the right treatment for you. These are typically carried out by specialised departments:- Radiology: X-rays, Ultrasounds, CT, or MRI scans
- Neurophysiology: Nerve conduction tests (e.g. for Carpal Tunnel)
Your Treatment Plan
Once we have a diagnosis, I will discuss the treatment options specifically tailored to you. Generally, these fall into the following categories:
- Local Anaesthetic: Numbing injections at the site (with or without sedation).
- Regional Anaesthetic: Your whole arm is numbed by a Consultant Anaesthetist, but you remain awake.
- General Anaesthetic: You will be asleep for the duration of the procedure.
Recovery & Aftercare
Your recovery is just as important as the procedure itself. To ensure the best possible outcome, we provide a structured aftercare plan tailored to your specific treatment.
- Wound Care: Keeping your dressing clean and dry, and when any stitches will need to be removed.
- Pain Management: A plan for medication to keep you comfortable during the initial healing phase.
- Elevation & Movement: Advice on how to position your hand or wrist to reduce swelling.
Potential Complications
The vast majority of procedures that I perform are successful and uncomplicated, but all surgery carries some degree of risk. I will run through any specific risks with you at your appointment.
- Infection: Small risk of wound infection, usually treatable with antibiotics.
- Scarring: All incisions leave a scar, which may be tender or firm initially but usually softens over time.
- Swelling & Bruising: Normal after surgery, managed with elevation and rest.
- Bleeding: Minor oozing is common; significant bleeding is rare.
- Stiffness: The most common issue. Early hand therapy is designed to prevent this.
- Nerve Irritation: Numbness or tingling near the scar site, usually temporary.
- Tendon Adhesions: Where internal scarring limits the “glide” of the tendons.
- CRPS: A rare condition (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) causing prolonged pain and swelling.
- Significantly increasing pain not relieved by medication.
- Spreading redness or heat around the dressing.
- Sudden, excessive swelling or foul-smelling discharge.
- High fever or feeling generally unwell.
Continued Care & Reviews
Managing a hand or wrist condition is often a journey rather than a single event. My commitment to your care continues well beyond the initial treatment phase.

I am committed to providing clear and transparent information regarding the costs of your consultation and treatment, whether you are using private insurance or paying for your own care.
